Soil Sampling and Characterization
SME can provide soil sampling and characterization of hazardous materials and petroleum products for regulatory compliance. Our environmental scientists perform sampling and analysis according to state and federal methods and standards. During excavation and disposal, our staff can perform on-site monitoring of contaminant levels to guide removal. Throughout the process, SME works with regulatory agencies to prepare remediation documents for contaminant disposal.
Reclamation Design and Monitoring Plans.
Reclamation and stabilization of disturbed areas is enforced and regulated by the COGCC (1100 Series) in Colorado and New Mexico Oil Conservation District (NMOCD). The COGCC may also require a monitoring plan to ensure that the reclamation is successful. The COGCC rules and regulations include protection of stockpiled soils, specifics for the drill pad location, minimizing surface disturbance including stormwater management, and using existing access roads. The NMOCD enforces the division’s rules and the State of New Mexico statutes, including land restoration, for the oil and gas industry.
SME has extensive experience in the field of landscape ecology, and has designed and implemented many reclamation and restoration projects including the preparation and execution of monitoring plans.
